Timothy Noon, currently D of M at Holy Trinity Cathedral, Auckland, NZ, is on 1 January 2016 to take up the post of D of M for Exeter Cathedral, Devon, England.
Our Auckland Cathedral, quite soon,
Will lose the redoubtable Noon
To Exeter bound,
Tim’ll make their choir sound
In tune at 12 noon as a boon.
The organ in John Loosemore’s case,
Has clusters of pipes on its face;
These pipes sit on bellows,
Behave like good fellows,
So Choir and the Great all embrace.
We’ll miss you like millions dear Tim,
Without you, the lights will go dim;
But in the world, choral,
There’s only one moral;
The best in the right place; you’re him.
Tim said today [25 June],
“Having thoroughly enjoyed my four year overseas experience in
Auckland, I’m absolutely thrilled to be moving to Exeter to be part of the Cathedral team, and to continue the great work of Andrew Millington.
“With its excellent choir school, fabulous organ, beautiful
setting, and forward looking worshipping community, Exeter is a very
exciting place to be engaged in cathedral music and I eagerly
anticipate the beginning of a new adventure.”
