Canterbury abuzz

Affiliates of RSCMNZ Canterbury are abuzz with recent and to come dramatic events. For St Mary’s Catholic Pro-Cathedral in Manchester Street, Bishop Paul Martin held his first orchestral Mass (Sunday 4 March 10.30am) following his Installation as Bishop of the Diocese 17 February 2018 at a hugely crowded Christchurch Boys’ High Auditorium. He is depicted attesting to his dedication to serve.

His motto is “Rejoice in the Lord always” (Pilippians 4 vv 4 – 8 KJV) as shown on his celebratory cake: even more special was the motet performed by the CBS Choir and orchestra during the St Mary Mass: “Rejoice in the Lord Alway” by Henry Purcell (NB: in Purcell’s era the “s” at the end of words such as ‘Always’ was alway(s) omitted).
For the Transitional Anglican Cathedral (Madras/Hereford Streets corner), the dedication Service for eight Deacons was conducted with blessings from Bishop Victoria (Friday 9 March) supported by Dean Lawrence Kimberley and a bevy of Clergy and the Cathedral Singers.

On Tuesday at 1.10pm 27 March 2018 you are invited be enthralled by an organ recital to be given by the Cathedral’s Director of Music, Dr John Linker.
