Church music has the special privilege of being the faithful custodian to the music of the past as well as being the champion of quality music of the present. This Summer School is about renewal: not only the re-establishment of a devastated city but also the chance to give attendees the time to look objectively at repertoire and technical facility through whole course and workshop activities. There has been some concern expressed about attending the Summer School in a city that has endured recent significant seismological upheaval. While it is difficult to predict fire and hail, snow and vapours, storms, tempests and floods, we can assure visitors to Christchurch that no building is allowed to be occupied in the city unless it meets stringent earthquake codes. In January 2013 we look forward to a vibrant and positive week of musical growth, renewal and fellowship”
