David Brookes of RSCMNZ Waikato Branch and director of the newly formed All Saints Matamata Evensong Choir tells the story of the Choir’s first “Outreach”.
This was the first ‘Outreach’ of this newly formed choir. They were joined by choristers from Morrinsville and Cambridge, making a total of 33 choristers.
They sang with great enthusiasm music by Gelineau, Morley and S.S.Wesley. The congregation participated with a Response during the psalm by Murray, and singing three well-known hymns.
Anne Connolly-Munt, Gordon Binnie and David Brookes shared the conducting and organ playing.
The service concluded with tributes by several people to the late Ven Bruce Dale, and a musical tribute to Bruce was played on the organ – ‘Elegy’ by Thalben-Ball.
All Saints choir look forward to participating in a Choral Festival in All Saints Church Matamata on Saturday 29th October. The Festival will conclude with a public concert.
Dave also shares some hints about the topics he will include in his Adelaide Summer School 2017 Workshop. To learn more you will need to take up the invitation to attend the school.
