Music Sunday is observed worldwide usually on or near mid-year by the whole family of RSCM regions and branches involving millions of members around our globe.
Waikato Branch is a bright light in this celebration. Its observation of Music Sunday honours the place of music in worship and recognises the work of Churches and the Clergy.
St Peter’s Cathedral Hamilton and RSCMNZ Waikato Branch invite all-comer singers to join the Cathedral Choir, conducted by Director of Music, Dr Rachael Griffiths-Hughes, to sing the lovely Service of Evensong at 5.00pm on Sunday 22nd July 2018. Anyone interested in taking part should be at the Cathedral by 3.00p.m. to rehearse.
Dr Ray Harlow, who is co-ordinating, advises as follows:

NOTES Editor, Dr Ray Harlow, comments on the invitation to all on behalf of the Waikato Branch.
This year (a bit later than the rest of the world) the Waikato branch is celebrating Music Sunday by singing Evensong with the St Peter’s Cathedral Choir at 5.00p.m. on 22nd July at St Peter’s Cathedral in Hamilton.
The music will be as follows:
Versicles and responses: ferial (this is a very straightforward and easy setting)
Psalm 63 (Anglican chant, which we’ll learn on the day)
Magnificat and Nunc dimittis: Morley Faux-bourdon (a partly harmonised plainsong setting)
Anthem: R Vaughan-Williams ‘O Clap Your Hands’
We’ll meet at St Peter’s at 3.00p.m. to learn these pieces and all music will be available on the day. If you would like to look at the Morley and V-W pieces ahead of time, they can be found at;
See you there.
