Annual Choir School – Wellington

This annual event in our branch is always a delight in which to be involved. This year it was held on
one day and directed by Jonathan Berkahn at St James’, Lower Hutt. He was assisted by
Helen Willberg, Roy Tankersley, and Alison Stewart. Other members of St James’ Choir
attended as well. Krystyna Wishnowsky was the registrar aided by Fiona Strachan.

Rehearsing at Choir School

Choristers arrived around 9am and were then into a day of singing, warmups, games, devotions, and bell ringing. Choristers came from Whanganui Collegiate, Marsden School, Huntley School, St Joseph’s Taihape, Chilton, and Wellington Cathedral. There were no awards given as there is no space to do so at a one-day school. The day ended with choral evensong in St James’ Church, which was wellattended by parents and parishioners from various churches. A big thank you to Jonathan Berkahn for his energy in leading our young choristers at this course.

Inside the organ’s heart

We are looking at running a two-day course next year at St James’ with Jonathan again at the helm.
